Elaine Roschel Nunes receives the "Jacob- und Wilhelm-Grimm-Förderpreis" Award (DAAD) 2025
Elaine Cristina Roschel Nunes, a graduate of the Postgraduate Programme in German Language and Literature (supervised by Dr Dörthe Uphoff) and currently a professor at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, has been awarded the DAAD's "Jacob- und Wilhelm-Grimm-Förderpreis". Since 2011, the Grimm Prize has been awarded to researchers from outside Germany who have rendered outstanding services to international cooperation in the field of German studies and German as a foreign language.
Federal Excellence Scholarship (Bundes-Exzellenz-Stipendium) from the Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation of the Swiss Confederation
Doctoral student Roberto Carlos Conceição Porto has been awarded a scholarship (Bundes-Exzellenz-Stipendium) from the Swiss Confederation's Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation. From September 2025 to August 2026 he will study at the University of Bern. His research will be linked to the project ‘Gattungspoetik des Sakralen’, coordinated by Prof Dr Nicolas Detering. Roberto Carlos joined the programme in January 2023 and is doing a doctoral thesis on the topic: ‘Satyra vitia sanare potest? An analysis of the 17th century satirical representation of Jacob Balde, Friedrich von Logau and Gregório de Matos e Guerra based on the topos of satire as medicine and cure’. It is a great pleasure that the co-operation between the Postgraduate Programme in German Language and Literature at the USP and teh German Studies programme at the University of Bern is being taken to a new stage through the initiative of Roberto Carlos C. Porto.
